Porter Airlines First Embaer E195-E2s

Porter Airlines has announced that it has exercised purchase rights to place a firm deal with Embraer for 25 E195-E2s.

The Canadian carrier adds to its 50 firm orders as part of the latest deal, and at list price value, the deal is worth USD 2.1 billion.

However, list prices typically define the value of the aircraft and are rarely what the customer in question will pay. Normally, heavy discounts are handed down during orders.

This can be especially highlighted for an airline such as Porter, which has a close and ongoing relationship with Embraer for its fleet.

A Heavy Reliance On The E2 Jet

Since taking delivery of its first Embraer E195-E2, the type has been hugely important to the airline’s current and future success.

The aircraft’s capabilities have meant Porter has been able to launch into new and emerging markets.

Destinations such as Las Vegas, Miami, San Francisco and Los Angeles will all be made possible thanks to this aircraft, alongside further destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico.

Porter Airlines prides itself on utilising a fleet of E2s. This pride is highlighted through a configuration that means customers won’t face a middle seat on their travels. Additionally, Porter’s E2s are configured with the latest amenities.

Configured with 132 seats in an all-economy, there are also a variety of seat pitches. The 132 seats are down from the 146 capable aircraft. However, Porter believes prioritising comfort is one of the more critical areas.

Porter’s E195-E2s are deployed from Eastern Canada across the country. Their services don’t just focus on Toronto Pearson but on Ottawa, Halifax, and Montreal. These latter locations are all seeing new services with time.

Comments From Executives

At Porter, we entered a new era when we began operating the E195-E2 earlier this year. The jet is exceeding our expectations, especially in terms of fuel use, and delivering an incredible level of customer satisfaction to our passengers with a quiet, comfortable ride. These additional 25 orders enable us to continue extending our reach throughout North America, with more exciting new destinations.

Michael Deluce, president and CEO, Porter Airlines

Porter Airlines is an exciting disrupter delivering an elevated passenger experience that’s shaking up the North American market. Choosing the E2 to deliver an upgraded service is a huge endorsement of the jet’s comfort and capabilities, and a further endorsement of the E2 – the world’s quietest and most fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft.
