A KLM Airbus A321neo

The Airbus A321neo entered service formally after taking its first delivery only weeks ago.

The new aircraft type at the Netherlands-based carrier completed successful flights to Copenhagen, Berlin, and Stockholm during its first day of active operations.

KLM has confirmed that adding the A321neo is part of a commitment to enhancing the fleet with more efficient flying.

The more efficient flying circles back to KLM’s core future focus, which includes a cleaner and greener operation while also making sure the aircraft is quieter during daily flying.

A mid-September EIS perfectly aligns with what KLM expected upon taking delivery of the first aircraft. The first scheduled passenger flights will follow a process to prepare the crew and the aircraft.

As more Airbus A321neos join the fleet, KLM is committed to bringing the next-generation aircraft to more locations. Paris, Prague, and Vienna are all destinations for the type.

While revamping the fleet and giving a fresh look to operations across several routes, the A321neo will also help replace the Boeing 737.

Not only does the A321neo have a larger capacity than the Boeing single-aisle, but it also offers improvements across the board.

These improvements are no shock when considering the development of technology adopted in a type like the A321neo over a much older 737NG.

KLM says the A321neo is 21% more efficient in fuel usage than the 737, as measured by per-passenger-tonne-kilometres.

The A321neo is equipped with all the latest technologies inside, including USB-C charging ports, a mobile and tablet holder, and more spacious luggage bins.
