JSX Announces Order For 332 Electric Aircraft

JSX announces an order for the Heart Aerosapce ES-30 as it looks towards redefining how short-haul regional travel is completed within the United States from 2028 onwards

JXS has announced its intent to acquire upwards of 300 hybrid electric aircraft, with deliveries slated to commence from 2028 onwards.

Behind The Landmark Order By JSX

As part of a move towards the new era of travel, JSX says it’ll acquire up to 332 hybrid-electric aircraft from Heart Aerospace, Electra and Aura Aero.

This latest intent from the company is part of their plans to pioneer the transition towards more environmentally friendly operations for small community air services.

The Letter Of Intent is made up of 82 of the 9-seat Electra eSTOL, with this made up of 32 firm orders and 50 further options. There are up to 150 commitments for the 19-seat Auro Aero Era, with 50 firm orders and 100 options included.

Meanwhile, JSX also announced the intent to acquire up to 100 of the 30-seat Heart Aerospace ES-30, comprising 50 firms and 50 options.

With deliveries slated to commence in 2028, JSX calls this the new era of travel for regional aviation. Additionally, the company is the first in its respective category to adopt this cutting-edge technology.

Comments From Executives

JSX is, by far, America’s highest rated and most innovative air carrier, and today’s order of hybrid-electric aircraft exemplifies our commitment to achievable, customer-friendly, carbon-reducing solutions that will offer the lower costs essential to providing vital air service to smaller communities across the country. As the network airlines order ever-larger aircraft it is inevitable that more and more small markets will be abandoned. Electra, Aura Aero, and Heart Aerospace are visionary organizations that share in JSX’s commitment to serving smaller communities, working together with us to weave sustainable regional air travel back into the fabric of American commerce and freedom of movement.

JSX Selects The Electra eSTOL

The Electra eSTOL has been designed for minimal emissions. The type is slated to accommodate 9 passengers or 2,500 pounds of cargo over a 500-nautical-mile range.

Unique capabilities include takeoff and landing in under 150 feet while doing so at slow speeds. Additionally, features such as in-flight recharging mean the elimination of mass infrastructure on the ground.

The eSTOL aircraft utilises distributed electric propulsion, blown lift, and a small turbine-powered generator, enabling eight electric motors across the wing. Electra says this design allows for efficient and quiet operations, which means more underserved areas, such as small regional markets, can see accessible air travel.

JSX Picks Heart Aerospace’s ES-30

As part of a continued commitment to the future, JSX selected Heart Aersospace’s upcoming ES-30.

Heart Aerospace says the ES-30 is a regional hybrid-electric aircraft designed for 30 passengers.

The aircraft will deliver a blend of low emissions, minimal noise, and cost-effective operation on short-haul routes. JSX is specifically targeting these types of routes thanks to the newest strategic investment.

Heart’s ES-30 boasts a range of up to 500 miles, and it covers 250 miles in hybrid mode and an additional 125 miles solely on full electric power. As a result, this ensures zero-emission operations.

JSX Lastly Picks The Aura Aero Era

JSX’s final investment was the Aura Aero Era. This aircraft has been designed for versatile transport, accommodating 19 passengers or 1.9 tons of freight.

Auro Aera says the type has been engineered to address regional aviation’s decarbonisation. Boasting a 900 nautical mile range, it leverages all-electric propulsion during takeoff.

Aligning with JSX’s long-term vision, this type reduces noise and minimises environmental impact.
