In December, the Fiji market will significantly boost with the launch of direct flights by low-cost Jetstar from Melbourne.
The service will begin on 16th December 2023 and be put in motion for the busy Christmas holiday, an important period for the aviation industry.
Jetstar says the service will be operated by their newly delivered Airbus A321neo LR aircraft. This type has provided Jetstar with a significant boost in its overall capacity and efficiency while freeing up existing planes for new route possibilities.
The flight will depart Melbourne on Monday, Thursday and Saturday as JQ121 and subsequently depart Nadi as JQ122 after an hour on the ground.
Since relaunching our Sydney to Fiji services, we’ve seen strong demand from Melbourne travellers, and from December they will be able to fly direct. Fiji is a hugely popular destination for Australians, and with interest continuing to grow, we’re offering more than 70,000 great low fares seats each year between Melbourne and Fiji.
Jetstar’s Chief Customer Officer, Alan McIntyre
The A321neo LR has an additional 46 seats per flight available to the airline over the A320 and will be a fantastic option for travellers looking for low-cost flights to Fiji.
Meanwhile, the Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation, Jim Parashos, said he was excited to see Jetstar announcing its intent to fly to Fiji, with travel demand to tropical destinations only continuing to grow and being a popular choice following the easing of pandemic-related restrictions.
