Embraer is entering a new era with the first flight of its E190F passenger-to freight conversion (P2F) as it gears up to meet demand.

Embraer is entering a new era with the first flight of its E190F, a passenger-to-freighter aircraft, thus identifying more potential in the popular single-aisle regional airliner.

The maiden flight, which lasted over two hours, took place in São José dos Campos, Brazil. During the critical testing phase, several necessary evaluations were made.

These flight tests will continue along the relevant tests that will mean the aircraft can one day, once fully approved, enter operations with freighter companies. Embraer, however, says that this aircraft type has already completed relevant ground pressurization and cargo loading tests.

Seen as a new business opportunity for Embraeer, the E190 passenger-to-freighter conversion will meet the present e-commerce demand and what Embraer says continues to grow.

The E-jet family also now has a new addition to it through the P2F, which further cements Embraer’s grip on the sector and gives companies new opportunities for their aircraft to reach near the end of their passenger operational life.

Embraer’s E190F and E195F passenger-to-freight conversion programs were launched in 2022, and many studies were conducted to ensure significant enough demand for such a conversion.

The E-Freighter program opens a new business opportunity for Embraer, meeting e-commerce’s growing global demand for cargo transport and matching the high-tech E-Jets family to an unbeatable operational performance. We are very pleased with E190F’s and E195F’s fast progress during the testing period. These jets will be important tools for our customers and allow them to work with more agile and decentralized deliveries.

Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer.

The global network for these two aircraft types stretches to more than 40 suppliers alongside a workforce exceeding 600 with more than half a million hours dedicated to the conversion, launch and more of this E-Freighter.
