Emirates has unveiled plans to partner with Avianca to offer greater connectivity across select routes across both company’s networks. The airlines say that the codeshare flights will begin on 4 June.
As part of the codeshare arrangement, Emirates customers flying via Madrid, London Heathrow, or Barcelona can fly directly to three points in Colombia. The aim is to offer seamless connectivity to these locations with other travel benefits.
Emirates says Madrid to Bogotá, Medellin or Cali; Barcelona to Bogotá; and London Heathrow to Bogotá will all feature. Moreover, to add further convenience, these will all be bookable on the Emirates website or over at Avianca immediately.
On Avianca’s side, the airline will place its code on routes between Barcelona, Madrid, and London Heathrow but will go through to Dubai. As a result, Avianca customers will be able to enjoy Emirates’ onboard experience, whether in Economy or premium cabins.

Emirates placed a strong emphasis on continuing to develop relationships with airlines around the world in its most recent financial results. The Dubai-based carrier knows there are fantastic benefits not just for itself as an airline but also for its customers.
If executed correctly, airline customers should be able to build itineraries with greater connectivity options and hassle-free booking.
Comments From Executives
We are delighted to establish a codeshare partnership with Colombia’s largest carrier, Avianca to provide seamless connections on select routes to customers of both airlines. The codeshare agreement will enable us to expand our reach and allow our customers to use our services and fly to additional popular points in Colombia.
Adnan Kazim, Deputy President, and Chief Commercial Officer, Emirates
We are very pleased to launch this codeshare agreement with Emirates which ratifies, once again, our commitment to connectivity, access to new destinations and a greater attraction of passengers to Latin America. This collaboration will bring our region closer to Dubai via Europe and it will also strengthen Avianca’s operation in Barcelona, Madrid and London Heathrow. Emirates is one of the largest and most prestigious airlines in the world, so this partnership is a testimony and recognition of Avianca’s track record, our world-class operational indicators, and the strength of our route network.
Claudio Vélez, Chief Revenue Officer, Avianca
