Condor celebrates the delivery of its first Airbus A320neo, marking another important step in its fleet modernisation efforts.

Condor has officially taken delivery of its first Airbus A320neo, marking another important step in the carrier’s fleet modernisation efforts.

The addition of the A320neo joins a commitment to the next-generation Airbus aircraft also present, including the A330neo, which was delivered in the last few years.

Condor’s overall commitment to the A320 series has lasted decades, with the aircraft being a valuable part of the network across Europe. However, Condor realises now is the time to move towards a more efficient alternative in the A320neo.

Delivery was celebrated in Toulouse and delivered to the company on a lease from Avolon. This is a leading aircraft lessor responsible for a significant portion of the global flying fleet of jets.

The Airbus A320neo is configured with 180 seats, and the airline plans to deploy the aircraft on May 15 with service to Palma de Mallorca.

While the A320neo delivery steals the headlines for Condor, the company will continue to commit to the popular narrowbody series. In the coming months, Condor will also take its first A321neo.

The expectation is that the A320neo family will be a driving force long into the future and will help to replace older A320-200s, A321-200s, and even some of its 757-300s.

Ultimately, fleet decisions such as these are pivotal in helping shape the airline’s future and making it more efficient. Following the retirement of the 767, the A330neo has cemented itself as a leader, and the A320neo family will look to do the same.
