Boeing has announced a new order with leading aircraft lessor Aviation Capital Group LLC (ACG) to purchase more 737 MAX jets.

As the leasing giant continues to increase its commitment to the series, 35 more 737 MAX aircraft will be added to the backlog, accelerating the portfolio’s growth.

As part of the deal, Aviation Capital Group says it’ll select 16 of the 737-8 and 19 of the largest member of the family, the uncertified 737-10.

Furthermore, the latest deal comes relatively quickly after last year’s incremental order for 737 MAX jets was announced. The newest contract highlights the company’s need to increase commitments and provide these jets to valuable customers.

The purchase brings Aviation Capital Group’s commitment to the 737 MAX family to 82 units. Boeing says it looks forward to further working with Aviation Capital Group in the coming years.

Aviation Capital Group manages 480 aircraft as of March 31, 2024, and sees leasing relationships with around 90 different airlines in 45 countries.

Boeing and Aviation Capital Group LLC announced the airplane lessor has finalized an order for 35 737 MAX jets.

Due to its wide array of customers and portfolio of aircraft, it has become one of the world’s leading choices for leasing solutions. Founded in 1989, the company focuses on aircraft financing solutions.

The leasing market has increasingly become more important for airlines seeking new aircraft as a short-term solution. This has been primarily driven by the immense backlog from Boeing’s source and their inability to deliver planes soon because of demand.

Thanks to these popular aircraft programmes selling out through to the 2030s and delivery slots being scarce, airlines requiring more immediate capacity are forced to look into the leasing market for solutions.

While this has proven a reliable solution, it isn’t immune to stress. The leasing market is now facing additional pressures as more airlines flock to use them as a solution.
