The situation at Boeing continues to improve, and on the eve of the 2024 Farnborough Airshow, executives at the manufacturer discussed the improvements.

Following a door blowout incident and subsequent inquiries into how planes were being produced, Boeing’s operation turned upside down.

The operation has seen a heightened focus on the integrity of the planes being produced. As a result, regulators like the FAA have launched reviews of how the manufacturer operates and conducts its production practices.

Unfortunately for Boeing, these investigations have identified several times when it has not produced aircraft up to the required standard. Ultimately, this is an area that needs to change.

Following these findings and Boeing arguably hitting rock bottom, it has stated it’s committed to turning around its fortunes and instilling a revised culture focusing more on building planes to the highest standard.

As part of this, Boeing is not just choosing but being mandated to invest hundreds of millions into safety programmes within the company.

These investments ensure that more employees receive adequate training, speak up, and are transparent about building aircraft from the top down.

Past sources have highlighted a disconnect between upper management and those on the floor who were producing the aircraft. However, improvements have been reported following those significant investments, which occurred just in the last few months.

Stephenine Pope says that Boeing is already seeing improvements and believes it’s a stable company despite its adversity.

Additionally, Pope told reporters that what’s occurring within Boeing is hardly a minor change. Instead, it’s a major transformative process aimed at altogether redefining the planemaker.

The 737 MAX factory was highlighted as one avenue that has seen improvement in the production flow, which has come after many challenges across recent history.

Looking Ahead For Boeing

Boeing wants to be more reliable and has been on record on several occasions apologising for the impact felt on airline customers who have been hurting since the turn of the decade.

Stabilising the production and delivery rates and eventually growing these are part of the focuses internally at Boeing looking ahead.

Furthermore, Boeing has made it clear that it wants to one day again be in a position where it can challenge to be the leading global aircraft manufacturer. This title is something it hasn’t had for some time.
