Despite having its A330neo flying worldwide, Airbus has faced delays in obtaining certification from Chinese aviation regulators.
Now, the European planemaker has provided updates. The process is still going smoothly and will likely be approved in 2025, which will facilitate a first delivery.
The A330neo is expected to be an important pillar of the long-term widebody future flying for airlines across China. Furthermore, fresh opportunities are presented as A330ceos begin to enter the latter stages of their passenger flying.
Those fresh opportunities include the ability to convert passenger aircraft into freighter planes, extend operational life further, and harness capabilities as effectively as possible.
Furthermore, the role of Airbus across China cannot be understated when addressing the ongoing A330neo approval process.
In the last few years, substantial political tensions between China and the United States have meant that the progression of Boeing deals and those related to their aircraft hasn’t eventuated to the liking of all parties.
As such, and with Boeing’s internal issues, which Chinese regulators have been extremely harsh on, a new gap has emerged for Airbus to pounce and take market share away from Boeing.
The importance of the Chinese market cannot be understated, and when considering COMAC’s attempts to enter the space, Airbus must remain on the front foot, pushing its product for purchase.
As for the A330neos certification process in the location, it isn’t uncommon for Chinese regulators to be tougher on new emerging aircraft, especially in light of recent developments across the industry and at Boeing.
Due diligence is being taken to ensure all new products meet the highest standards for their eventual customers, whether those who have already ordered said type or will eventually place orders and thus commit to flying the aircraft.
The A330neo has enjoyed substantial success in the last few years after a slower period across the industry. Several high-profile airlines have backed the programme, which was launched to fend off competition from the 787.
