Bonza, one of Australia’s newest airlines, has unveiled plans to introduce Darwin and Alice Springs as the latest destinations.

The airline is set to be responsible for a large wave of connectivity to the Northern Territory (NT) by adding 12 new weekly flights. These 12 weekly flights are spread across three new routes launching over the coming months.

Melbourne to Alice Springs, Sunshine Coast to Darwin and Gold Coast to Darwin will all be launched, and as a result, 116,000 new seats annually will be propelled into the Top End and Red Centre.

Bonza operates exclusively with a fleet of 737 MAX aircraft and is continuously adjusting its route network to meet demand. It has announced since the launch of a host of new services, alongside route cuts, as it trials segments to find the perfect sweet spot.

The routes labelled as exciting come from the Northern Territory Government’s visionary “Territory Aviation Attraction Scheme.” Such a scheme is wholly responsible for fostering greater competition in the skies of the Northern Territory while also expanding overall accessibility with better connectivity.

Our purple army of supporters have been asking us to add the NT to our route map and today I’m humbled to share the great news from Darwin. Visitors from the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast can now fly direct to the Top End without transferring through a major city airport. The people of Melbourne can now access Alice Springs without it breaking the bank

Bonza CEO, Tim Jordan

Bonza says that flights are now on sale for the three new routes, with prices pitched around $139 to $149 per person for a one-way trip to explore the heart of Australia. Melbourne to Alice Springs begins on the 12th of December, while Gold Coast to Darwin launches on the 1st of December, and finally, the first to emerge will be Sunshine Coast to Darwin from the 29th of November.

Bonza’s arrival in the Northern Territory marks a significant milestone for the airline. It sees its route portfolio reach another state in Australia and move further inwards from the East Coast, home to a substantial amount of their routes.

The services will operate twice weekly across differing days and are subject to regulatory approval.
