Aer Lingus has announced an expansion on its long-haul network as it looks to overhaul its operations.

Aer Lingus will focus on North America with the latest expansion and will now see 18 operational routes between Ireland and North America.

The Irish carrier will complete a new direct service to Denver while relaunching Minneapolis-St Paul as part of its summer 2024 season.

Denver and Minneapolis-St Paul are significant business destinations within the US and the new Aer Lingus routes facilitate corporate links and connectivity between Europe and North America, through our Dublin Hub. Denver’s position as the ‘Gateway to the Rockies’ and its outdoor appeal, from world class skiing to hiking, opens up a whole new US experience to leisure travellers from Ireland and Europe.

Aer Lingus Chief Executive, Lynne Embleton

Minneapolis-St Paul will commence on the 29th of April, 2024 and will increase from four times weekly to daily year-round by the following October. It’ll also be served by the upcoming A321XLR once deliveries occur.

The A321XLR being deployed eventually on the Minneapolis-St Paul service highlights the capabilities of the variant and the advancements in technology making such services possible on a narrow body.

Airbus is currently in the process of certifying the A321XLR. However, it has had a safety risk identified, which will delay the eventual launch of the program till 2024, one year later than expected.

Denver flights will begin on the 17th of May 2024 and operate four times weekly. The Airbus A330 will run on this route, a pivotal aircraft for the Aer Lingus international network.

  1. Good to hear this news . Will air lingus also fly from Birmingham to North America states ie Albequrque in New Mexico?
Making the trip to US from Birmingham lately is a nightmare. There seems to be no direct flights anymore . More often there is transit flights via Europe and many flight change, making the journey unpleasant and lengthy journey.

  2. Bhx to derry would be nice….or any uk airport to derry as loganair has let us down from liverpool

  3. There should be more flights from Shannon airport to America we all don’t live in Dublin think of the people that live in munster
