STARLUX Airlines is upgrading its flagship route to the United States with the Airbus A350-1000 to be deployed to Los Angele from the Northern Winter 2026/27 season.

The move from the airline comes at a time when A350-1000’s deliveries begin scaling, and other U.S cities see the base A350-900 model swapped out for higher capacity options.

Airbus A350-1000 To Los Angeles

From 25 October 2026, STARLUX will send the A350-1000 on its daily JX1/2 service from Taipei Taoyuan to Los Angeles, with the A350-900 exiting the route except for a two-day transitional stint at the end of the same month. The change commences.

The revised schedule, while deploying the Airbus A350-1000, will keep the same timings to align with the airlines’ schedules. The flight JX2 departs Taipei at 2340 and arrives in Los Angeles the same day at 1905.

Meanwhile, JX1 departs Los Angeles at 2250 for arrival in Taipei two days later at 0530, after a lengthy crossing of the Pacific and accounting for time differences.

For passengers and STARLUX, the move fundamentally brings more seating capacity and, undoubtedly, a rise in premium options to the first US destination served by the still relatively new Taiwanese carrier.

The A350-1000s have been configured in four classes, with first-class suites followed by business class, ensuring a premium feel at the front of the cabin. These seats yield high revenue for the airline and are especially profitable across the U.S.S sectors like Los Angeles.

These A350-1000s also still have room for Economy and Premium Economy, with a passenger capacity sitting around the 350 mark, with space and certainly premium options being prioritized. The A350-900s carry fewer seats and serve a purpose: they are intended as a launchpad into North America, not the end-game.

Now that the A350-1000 is at its disposal, STARLUX can gradually upgrade its fleet without complicating slot or commonality efforts, while still being perceived as a luxurious option for travel across the Pacific.

Why the A350-1000 works for STARLUX

The A350-1000 for STARLUX has become a key asset deployed across the network, pivotal to its international operations, especially in markets with dense traffic and strong demand.

The long-range, high-capacity capability of the aircraft, which is a stretch on the A350-900, means that STARLUX is capable of comfortably serving the West Coast of the United States and, soon, the East Coast.

While, naturally, this is being done at a lower cost than on previous-generation widebodies, STARLUX is a new airline and has therefore not known any different. That said, with high fuel prices and market volatility putting pressure on yields, these young fleets are thriving for businesses.

The A350-1000 order was with the North American market in mind, and now, as deliveries continue, the Taiwanese carrier is beginning to see its strategy come to fruition, with Los Angeles representing just one of the many cities within the country that are or will receive the A350-1000 over the A350-900.

With the larger model replacing the base A350-900, this also opens up fresh possibilities for the airline in its pursuit of more medium-range international flying, where a jet like the -900 remains practical and useful and can be redeployed to benefit the network.
