Ho Chi Minh city, Viet Nam-05252023: Airbus A350-941 with registration RP-C3508 of Philippine Airlines have The love bus sticker prepare to take off from Ho Chi Minh international Airport.

Philippine Airlines is gearing up for a shift in how it operates to North America in the Winter 2026/27 season, with the Airbus A350 at the heart of the adjustments.

The changes look to position increases on frequency, capacity growth, and the intended deployment of its flagship towards those higher-yielding markets.

Flagged by aeroroutes.com, it comes amid the flag-carriers’ push to improve connectivity and make the most of not just visible demand to the United States and Canada, but also to expand their own premium offerings.

Chicago Returns For Philippine Airlines

One of the first headline changes previously known is the move by Philippine Airlines to relaunch nonstop service between Manila and Chicago O’Hare from 9 November 2026, the A350-900 slated to be deployed between the two cities.

The thrice-weekly flight will depart Manila as PR132 at 1640, with a 1655 arrival in Orlando. With the magic of time and travel, the flight arrived 15 minutes later on the same day in the United States.

Returning is PR133, departing Orlando at 2245 and touching down at the airline’s hub in Manila at 0525 two days later. This is the first time the business has served the location from Manila since the 1980s, when, for a limited window, it flew scheduled passenger flights.

For Philippine Airlines, resuming this connection 40 years later ensures direct access to the Midwest USA and a large contingent of both leisure and business travelers who previously had to connect through West Coast hubs to reach Manila.

The A350-900 with three classes gives not just the range to make this happen, but, importantly, a long-haul product that has everything, whether it’s targeting high-yielding passengers or ensuring there are still economy and premium economy options further towards the back of the plane.

A350 Upgrades In The United States

The Airbus A350, away from Chicago, will be at the heart of much of what Philippine Airlines looks to do on its U.S. network during the Northern Winter season, with flights between Manila and New York JFK the first to welcome changes.

From 2 December 2026, the airline plans to increase its 3 weekly flights to 5 weekly, adding service provided by the A350-900/1000 mix. From 28 January 2027, the route will operate 4-weekly and be flown exclusively by the A350-1000 rather than a mix of aircraft.

San Fransicio will also see, from 1 November 2026, the 777-300ER exit, with the A350-1000 replacing the Boeing widebody. This is off the back of the A350-1000, beginning service from 7 August, with 3 of the 7 weekly flights, the others from 7 August through 1 November, still flown by the 777 before it exits.

Seattle flying will also see the A350-900 replace the 777-300ER on one of the 5 weekly services from 7 January 2027 through 28 January 2027. That represents the last of the changes announced by the airline for the United States for the moment, as it gears up to implement its Northern Winter schedule in the country.

With the flag carrier having targeted expansion to the United States for some time, these frequency upgrades are part of a broader mission to scale up operations and capacity to match demand and provide more nonstop connections for customers.

Philippine Airlines Makes Canada Shifts

Across the border, Canada has come into view for Philippine Airlines through its latest filing with Toronto Pearson to increase service. From 5 December 2026, the previously established three-weekly flights will increase to 4 weekly, with the fourth flight operated by the A350-900.

Philippine Airlines, however, will commit more heavily to the route as of the end of December. At the turn of the new year, from 2 January 2027, the airline will send its A350-1000 instead, the higher-capacity alternative for Toronto Pearson.

Lastly, it’s Manila to Vancouver that will benefit, with service increasing from 17 November 2026, with flights jumping from daily to 10 times a week. PR136/135 is to be operated by the A350-900, then switched to the 777-300ER, from 1 December 2026 through 30 January 2027.

PR136 departs Manila at 1105 for a 0800 arrival into Vancouver on the new thrice-weekly service. PR137 operating the return flight for a 1235 departure from Vancouver and a next-day touchdown back into the airline’s hub at 1800.
