Delta’s latest announcement reshapes its executive team as John Laugher, a long-time leader of the airline, retires after three decades.

For the U.S. carrier, this change is one of several strategic shifts the airline is making as it positions itself for the future.

At the front of the company, Peter Carter was promoted to President, which expanded his focus beyond global policy and legal affairs and gave him greater oversight across key pillars of the business, such as sustainability, international business, and more.

Changes To Delta TechOps & Finance Teams

When Laughter retires, effective 30 April 2026, the current CFO, Dan Janki, will become the new Chief Operating Officer and, as a result, take on end-to-end responsibility for operations, including support, er service, techops, and corporate safety roles, as well as basic needs such as flight operations.

Alain Bellemare, the EVP and President, also assumes the role of Chairman of Delta TechOps, which allows him to leverage his already esteemed industry experience to help drive the development and evolution of the business’s maintenance and engineering division.

Meanwhile, Eric Snell, stepping into the CFO role, is a long-standing veteran of Delta and already has an extensive background in finance and front-line operations, and thus is seen by the business as the perfect decision.

Marketing Changes Also Confirmed

Chief Marketing Officer Alicia Tillman is also slated to depart Delta, making her own decision to pursue opportunities outside the U.S. carrier, which will force a replacement.

Ranjan Goswami now assumes the role of Chief Marketing and Product Officer; this is a crucial role in the retention and continued development of the Delta brand.

As a result, direct focuses include commercial partnerships, the brand image, customer-facing strategies and more.

All these new changes by Delta, some forced and some made at the airline, are expected to result in the appointment of new personnel to work closely with CEO Ed Batian at the top of the organisation to create better alignment and a foundation for the future.
