Qantas plans to increase Airbus A330 flights to Japan across the Northern Winter 2026/27 season as part of early schedule planning.

The airline previously confirmed it would increase service from 3 to 4 flights per week on its Sydney-Sapporo route, effective 12 December 2026.

However, under the latest schedule revision, the airline will offer five weekly flights from 20 December 2026 through 31 January 2027.

Under further schedule revisions, the flight will drop back down to 3 weekly during March, from 1 March 2027 through 31 March 2027, in time for the commencement of the Northern Summer Schedule 2027

Qantas Confirms Sydney-Sapporo Schedule

Qantas will utilise the Airbus A330-200 on the Sydney-Sapporo route, which is scheduled to resume as a seasonal service from 12 December 2026, Aeroroutes reports.

QF107 will depart Sydney at 0905 and arrive at Sapporo New Chitose at 1800. The return leg as QF108 departs Sapporo New Chitose at 1940 with a next-day morning arrival back into Sydney at 0835.

Why The Boost? Ski Demand & More

Qantas’ decision to boost Airbus A330 service between Sydney and Sapporo comes amid surging demand for travel to Japan from countries worldwide, with demand particularly strong in Australia.

For those travelling to the resorts here, enjoy winter activities during the summer months. There are now more weekly departures, especially for the Sapporo Snow Festival, which attracts worldwide attention.

Furthermore, the route is important: The Australian flag-carrier offers the only nonstop connection; without it, Tokyo or Osaka connections are required, making the airline’s service far more convenient and faster for passengers.

Bottom Line: Qantas Ramps Up Japan Flights

Qantas will increase Sydney-Sapporo flights during the peak Northern Winter 2026/27 period to up to 5 times a week on its Airbus A330, adding thousands of seats and boosting Japanese tourism.

Bien ghte only nonstop service for those in Australia heading to the country’s popular ski destination, the flag carrier is looking to leverage this convenience to grow market share.
