Alaska Airlines has confirmed that, starting September 12, 2025, it will operate between Seattle and Seoul Incheon, but with a catch.

As part of Aslaka Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines’ takeover, the broader Alaska Airlines Group now has the opportunity to reach long-haul markets.

However, the catch is the knowledge that the airline doesn’t have widebody aircraft in its mainline operation but now has access to the Hawaiian Airlines fleet. This is how the new route will be made possible.

This route was initially announced in December; however, a date has now been announced with nonstop service to be flown with the A330-200 on a Hawaiian Airlines aircraft, but from Seattle.

Serving the South Korean capital will help cater to business and leisure demand but will be more important than the effects of the location from which the flight originates, Seattle.

Alaska Airlines has made its intent clear that it believes Seattle will become a new premier global gateway. Through this intent, the action is that by 2030, 12 nonstop international destinations will be served from Seattle with widebody aircraft.

For example, Seoul Incheon will join Tokyo Narita from Seattle, which is expected to begin on May 12, 2025. These two locations were the first 12 scheduled to arrive by the beginning of the following decade.

With our robust network, we can connect our guests through our global gateway in Seattle for convenient nonstop service to Seoul and Tokyo, with additional connections to other Asian destinations with our global partners. As we grow our global network from Seattle in the coming years, we’ll announce new international routes to dynamic destinations that we know our guests are going to love to visit.

Andrew Harrison, Chief Commercial Officer at Alaska Airlines

Seattle already serves 104 nonstop destinations across North America; therefore, Alaska Airlines feels it is optimally placed to meet the stronger international traffic that will then feed onwards towards markets on its short-haul aircraft.

Leveraging the acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska Airlines feels it’s now poised to take greater control of the West Coast of the United States, focus heavily on markets from Hawaii with aircraft, and compete more strongly with the three established airlines of the U.S.

Alaska Airlines Flight Details

Seattle’s departure is scheduled for 1525, with an 1850 arrival in South Korea the following day. These flights will depart on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Meanwhile, the return flight departs Seoul two hours after arrival at 2050 with a 1500 arrival back into Seattle on the same day, thanks to the magic of time zones.

The Airbus A330 will debut on the route; however, Alaska Airlines has said that Hawaiian Airlines’ state-of-the-art 787 Dreamliner will soon be added to the network as more deliveries occur.
