After over a decade of not operating service, Qatar Airways announced on 7 January 2025 that it would resume regular flying to Damascus in Syria.
Thrice weekly flights will be offered, which will represent an even bigger move to recommence services to what was an important market some time ago before service was suspended for several reasons.
Those travelling towards Syria they’ll be able to do so from ports around the world; however, those in Syria will now also have greater access to global destinations thanks to the hefty Qatar Airways network.
Given the complexities of the location it’ll recommence flying to in recent times, Qatar Airways says it’s committed to supporting passenger safety by communicating with officials to ensure the best practices are implemented.
The Airbus A330 will be operated between Doha Hamad and Damascus to serve adequate demand that has been present for some time but, due to tensions, hasn’t been possible.
Qatar Airways says they’re pleased by the ability to resume flights, which have always remained a location of great historical and cultural importance.
Moreover, the carrier knows that its customers have also been holding out hope for some time of service resuming but have been left patiently waiting due to circumstances that have remained out of Qatar Airways’ control until now.
