SAS is set to expand its international network by announcing a new service East towards Asia in 2025.
The company will enhance the intercontinental network by offering a direct route between Copenhagen and Seoul from 12 September 2025. However, the route remains subject to regulatory approval.
Seoul Incheon is a major international gateway to South Korea but also acts as a fantastic port for onward connectivity throughout Asia, thanks to the substantial options offered by airlines.
This landmark route is the first-ever regular direct service between Scandinavia and Korea, and during the peak summer season, it is expected to operate four times per week.
When the colder months arrive, SAS says the flight will be reduced to thrice weekly to meet the demand and free up the aircraft for deployment to another market needing SAS service.
Those very SAS services have been a huge business focus across recent periods, with the international network seeing considerable expansion lately.
SAS calls the new route to Seoul an essential pillar of its network moving forward. It is generally a strategic decision that aims to cater to the evolving demand from a business and leisure standpoint.
The airline is expected to use the Airbus A350 in service between the two locations, a fuel-efficient widebody that has helped propel the company forward in all the right directions. Moreover, the flight has been time for an evening departure to ensure maximum connectivity.
What also remains important is the airline’s membership in SkyTeam, which also calls Korean Air home; naturally, the airline’s primary hub is Seoul Incheon, which now gives SAS customers greater opportunities to continue flying throughout Asia.
This new route highlights our commitment to meeting customer demand and enhancing connectivity between two dynamic regions. Seoul, renowned as a global center of culture, innovation, and business, is a strategic addition to our growing network. As a proud SkyTeam member, this route further strengthens the seamless connectivity we provide, linking Scandinavia to key destinations across the globe. We are excited to welcome passengers on board this landmark service.
Anko van der Werff, President & CEO of SAS.
The airline says that with the upcoming launch of service to Seattle slated for May 2025, 14 intercontinental destinations will be offered from Copenhagen, connecting to over 100 destinations in Europe.
SAS wants to make Copenhagen a premier global hub for tourism, flying, and overall connectivity, and as such, its role in connecting to Scandinavia couldn’t be more emphasised.
