Cathay Pacific has announced a new route from its home of Hong Kong International Airport set for commencement in 2025.
The carrier will serve Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) for the first time, with flights commencing on 24 April 2025.
Dallas is the sixth destination served by the Hong Kong-based carrier in the United States and the eighth in broader North America.
The carrier already serves Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver.
The A350-1000 will be deployed on service between the two locations. The route is available for booking but is still subject to the relevant regulatory approval.
CX898 will depart Hong Kong at 1605 and arrive in Dallas at 1755. Meanwhile, the return leg of CX897 will depart Dallas at 2355 and arrive back in Hong Kong at 0505.
Cathay notes that the flights will initially operate four times a week, with departures on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Cathay Pacific believes there’s great potential across the Americas, and as such, aligning with its overall recovery from the pandemic, it has been looking not just to rebuild but also to grow across this market.
Dallas is known as one of the busiest airports worldwide, and Cathay believes there’s more than enough demand to serve this location.
However, the decision to move forward with this route was not solely based on the assumption that those would fly into Dallas on their aircraft.
Cathay Pacific knows Dallas is an essential hub for key airline partners and fellow oneworld alliance member American Airlines.
As a result, Dallas Fort Worth will make possible onward connectivity to over 190 domestic destinations and 11 destinations in Central and South America.
