Having just switched to the Skyteam Alliance, SAS is powering ahead with significant expansion attempts as it exits restructuring.

The Scandinavian carrier has unveiled 15 new routes from Copenhagen in preparation for the summer 2025 schedule, focusing on offering the best possible service.

Some of the many new routes include Madrid, Krakow, Budapest, Valencia, Malta, Milan, and Seville. Meanwhile, frequency increases are planned across 15 existing routes.

However, one of the greatest developments is the commencement of new long-haul flights to Seattle from Copenhagen as part of an enhanced flying portfolio.

All in all, the airline wants to make Copenhagen an excellent hub for short-haul and long-haul flying, with greater connectivity across the board.

By joining Skyteam, this alliance will help leverage SAS’ ambition to enhance connectivity. It is backed by additional support and investment from Air France-KLM.

Seemingly, Copenhagen will become the main hub for international travel, and its geographical positioning looks to be a key part of this.

SAS has reaffirmed that Copenhagen offers customers same-day travel across Northern, Central, and Western Europe and is also a transit point for long-haul travel.

However, Copenhagen won’t be the only focus. SAS aims to offer better service from Oslo and Stockholm as well, with hundreds of daily departures to many different destinations.

In time for the summer 2025 schedule, SAS has committed to serving New York JFK on a seasonal basis from Oslo. This route will be operational to meet demand between the two locations and ultimately enhance connectivity across the Atlantic.
