A Cubana de Aviacion Tupolev TU-204 at Havana Airport

Cubana de Aviacion has officially recommenced international flights with the deployment of charter flights after a lengthy hiatus.

Service has commenced between José Martí International Airport in Havana and Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, significantly increasing connectivity between the two countries.

Cubana de Aviacion says it’ll operate two weekly flights, departing on Mondays and Fridays, using its Tupolev TU-204 aircraft, which can carry 176 passengers.

Service between the two locations was said to start at $331, thanks to a post published on the airline’s Facebook page. However, there was the possibility of increasing the available baggage and seeing this fare rise with further add-ons.

Panama offers great connectivity options for leisure and business. Furthermore, Panama City offers better onward travel opportunities to markets such as the United States, the Caribbean and other important passenger locations.

The General Manager of Tocumen International Airport said that the service’s relaunch will strengthen historical ties that unite people and aid transit travel to the aforementioned markets.

Fleet data, as of May 27 2024, indicates that Cubana de Aviacion has 4 active aircraft, including a lone Tupolev TU-204, with two of this same variant listed as parked. The TU-204’s average age is 16.6 and aligns with the theme of the airline’s rather older age of aircraft operated.
