Virgin Atlantic has announced that, as part of continued expansion efforts, it will return to Canada with the launch of service to Toronto in 2025.

The U.K.-based airline is celebrating its Ruby Anniversary, following its first flight between London Gatwick and Newark in June 1984.

As part of the anniversary marking a staggering four-decade operation, the carrier is announcing its return to Canada, with Toronto slated to feature.

Service to Canada returns for the first time in over a decade and will commence on 30 March 2025. Fares start at £490 per person. This route has been optimally timed to begin just before the summer schedule when a significant influx of traffic will be seen.

Flights will operate out of London Heathrow and a touchdown at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The carrier has committed to offering daily flights.

While no specific aircraft has been locked down permanently, the airline says one of its newest entrants, the A330-900 from the A330neo family, will feature between the cities. However, the airline generally says a mix of aircraft will operate initially.

Toronto is a huge hub and focal point of tourism in Canada and an important gateway for Canadians and those travelling from the UK and other European locations. Virgin Atlantic highlights its customers from India who will now have greater access to Canada via London thanks to continued service expansion.

Meanwhile, connectivity is set to increase tenfold thanks to Virgin Atlantic announcing it’ll expand its codeshare partnership with WestJet. Starting in October 2024, this expansion will mean Canadian customers can utilise the regional network, including Ottawa and Winnipeg.

Virgin Atlantic has highlighted that the benefits of the two airlines’ frequent flyer model are expected to be effective in 2025. Ultimately, these changes align with Virgin Atlantic’s service launch back into the Canadian market.
