Alaska Airlines is celebrating a service launch between Seattle and Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Thanks to route commencement, Toronto is now the sixth city in Canada to be served by the company that has committed to expanding its network heavily across the last 18 months.
Alaska Airlines already serves Calgary, Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria and Edmonton. While described as a new service, Toronto is technically a returning city for the U.S.-based carrier.
The company served Toronto in the early 1990s, offering nonstop connectivity from Los Angeles and Toronto. However, after over 30 years, the carrier believes now is the right time to bring its service to the city.

Service is expected to operate daily with Alaska Airlines utilising its 737-900 aircraft. The airline says flights will depart Seattle at 0650 and arrive in Toronto at 1420. Meanwhile, the return leg departs Toronto at 1540 and arrives in Seattle at 1755. These times are local to their respective cities.
Alaska Airlines used the launch to highlight fellow partner Porter Airlines’ most recent expansion west. The carrier says that with Porter Airlines flights towards Los Angeles and San Francisco, connectivity across the West Coast network can be enhanced.
Over the last year, Alaska Airlines has added several new companies as global partners. The airline leverages these relationships to boost its bookable routes and enhance customers’ travel experiences.
Launching service between Seattle and Toronto represents an important moment for the company. This new route highlights the airline’s ability to offer service further east from the West Coast. As a result, many onlookers believe there’s an opportunity to launch into more Canadian markets with time, such as Montreal.
