From the 31st of March, 2024, British Airways will upgrade its London to Singapore route by deploying the world’s largest passenger plane, the A380.
BA11/BA12 is currently operated by a Boeing 777. However, the A380 will boost capacity considerably, given the 777-300ER is just shy of 300 and the A380 nears a capacity of close to 500.
Per Cirium fleet data, the airline has 12 Airbus A380s in service, which means emerging from the pandemic, it is one of the largest operators of the widebody double-decker.
For June of 2023, British Airways saw 112 flights from London to Singapore, a staggering 89.8% increase from one year prior. Thanks to the additional capacity for 2024, we will see further growth in available seats bookable.
The A380s were featured mainly on services to Johannesburg, San Francisco, Boston, Dallas, Dulles, Chicago, Miami and Dubai. Highlighting how important the North American market has been for the airline and what the A380 brings to those respective routes regarding capacity.
