As part of its continued commitment to growth, International Airlines Group (IAG) has announced plans to convert options that existed for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner into firm orders. The destination for these 787s is for IAG carrier British Airways.
Six total units for the 787-10, the largest aircraft in the series, will thus join up with the U.K based airline with delivery slated in the coming years.
As British Airways continues to restore capacity and reach pre-pandemic levels, adding more 787-10s will aid them with this. Given the fuel efficiency and capabilities, especially with the capacity, the 787-10 has already been a favoured plane for the company.
The 787 Dreamliner has worked its way into the British Airways fleet over recent times significantly. The airline operates every variant with 18 787-9s in service, 12 787-8s and 7 of the 787-10s still being delivered. All up, these Dreamliners contribute to the 238 in-service aircraft.
