Royal Air Maroc has 52 aircraft in-service, but that will all change as a major expansion looms in the coming decade.

Towards the backend of last week, the chief executive of Royal Air Maroc, alongside the Moroccan prime minister, initiated plans to grow the airline. Labelled an investment programme par excellence.

The signing will see Royal Air Maroc see significant investment that’ll support future business goals and strategies from the government to support national tourism, which Royal Air Maroc is essential to achieving.

As a result, the airline’s fleet size is expected to grow into double digits by 2037; therefore, requests for proposals will be sent towards manufacturers as they plot their future fleet.

Royal Air Maroc currently has 52 active aircraft. Twenty-nine of these are from the 737NG family, and the second largest aircraft family measured by units is the 787 Dreamliner.

However, there’ll need to be a pretty large shakeup fleet-wise if they are to reach the target of 200 aircraft by 2037, including narrowbody and widebody planes.

Boeing will no doubt push hard for the contract as Royal Air Maroc could build upon their commitments to the 787 while potentially investing in the 737NGs updated 737 MAX series further for efficient narrowbody flying.
