Per Reuters, with the 2023 Paris Airshow upcoming and new order commitments, alongside the finalising of existing ones, Philippine Airlines looks set to confirm an order for the Airbus A350.

The airline had previously committed to nine of the A350-1000, the high-capacity variant set to meet additional demand and complement their -900 operations. However, at the time, this was only signed as an MoU—a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus to firm up eventually.

Philippine Airlines wants to leverage the capabilities of the A350-1000, paired with its existing long-haul fleet consisting of Boeing 777s, A350-900s and A330s, to its advantage. The company sees great opportunities to grow its network to new destinations.

Per Cirium fleet data, Philippine Airlines has 2 Airbus A350-900s in service. Its total active in-service fleet is 46 units, with ten aircraft in storage. Those currently parked include narrowbody types such as the A320-200, A321-200, A321neo, A330-300 and 777-300ER.
