A Boeing 737 configured to fight fires has crashed in Western Australia. Registered as N619SW, the aircraft belonged to Coulson Aviation.

Coulson Aviation is home to experienced aerial firefights who are an asset for Australian emergency services. Their mission is to protect wildlife, vegetation, humans and infrastructure.

Two pilots onboard the aircraft were able to walk away with minor injuries. The crash occurred as the plane was assigned to help contain and battle bushfires in regional Western Australia. The aircraft went down near Ravensthorpe.

The aircraft was airborne for more than 40 minutes before eventually coming down.

The ATSB is launching a full investigation. This is the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, which will take time to determine the causes, as with any investigation.
