Boeing 747s and 777s with the Cathay Group will be upgraded as part of a major new announcement.
Lufthansa Technik has announced that it has signed its most extensive maintenance deal to date, marking a new chapter as a long-standing partner of the Hong Kong-based Group.
As part of the agreement, Cathay will benefit from Lufthansa Technik’s comprehensive power-by-the-hour services, which will involve the overhaul and upgrade of 72 aircraft.
Lufthansa Technik will therefore focus on managing all component-related activities, delivering a total component maintenance (TCM) solution across the Hong Kong carrier’s 747 and 777 fleets.
The overhaul will see a total of 20 Boeing 747 Freighters flying for the Cathay Cargo division undergo work, followed by 52 Boeing 777 passenger aircraft, with work expected to commence in October.
The support package, as described, has been carefully curated to help optimise the fleet availability of the airline and its cargo division while also managing cost efficiency moving forward.
