Skymark Airlines has revealed it has firmed four orders for the 737 MAX while securing two options for the series.
The four firm orders will be split between two 737-8s and two 737-10s, with delivery between 2026 and 2027, respectively.
While they’ll see two of each join from 2026 onwards, the options also include one additional -8 and -10. These are optional aircraft that the airline may look towards activating in the future, permitting demand and more.
Per Cirium data, the airline offers 1,178 flights to/from Tokyo Haneda for January 2023. This equates to 208,506 seats being offered. A staggering jump of 2921% over January 2022 figures. Skymark has been aided by Japan easing travel restrictions.
It’s not only Haneda that has seen a significant increase, either. For example, Kobe Airport in Japan has seen a staggering 2466% increase in flights in January 2023 vs January 2022, with 29 flights jumping to 744.

The airline currently operates a fleet of 29 737NG aircraft. The commitment to the MAX will therefore modernise their fleet.
