LATAM is growing its Boeing 787 fleet and has committed to up to 15 additional units.
The latest order will see the carrier purchase 10 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with the option for five additional units as purchase rights should LATAM wish to activate these.
LATAM has selected the 787-9 specifically, with this middle-ground variant deemed the most optimal for the type of missions that the airline plans to operate in the future.
A commitment to the Boeing 787, or rather a top-up, shouldn’t be a shock, with the airline offering the region’s largest day-to-day usage of the widebody type.
The carrier has 37 Boeing 787 in its fleet, with the aircraft a prominent part of its commitment to next-generation flying.
The latest deal will see the airline’s overall Dreamliner commitment grow, with an expected 52 units from this family actively flying by 2030 and into the next decade.
The Boeing 787 is a much more efficient aircraft, allowing us to continue growing sustainably while reducing our carbon footprint as we drive the growth of our operations. This order will enable us to receive at least two aircraft of this model each year from 2025 until the end of the decade.
Ramiro Alfonsín, Chief Financial Officer of the LATAM Airlines Group
The Boeing 787 has proved to be an essential aircraft for many airlines worldwide. However, the carrier has equally utilised the 787 to its advantage when flying to major international markets.
LATAM highlights service towards locations such as Sydney in Australia as an example of just what the 787 Dreamliner can do for them from their home region.

Boeing said it was happy that LATAM still showed confidence in the product presented in the 787 Dreamliner and was excited about the prospective international expansion from key hubs.
LATAM will leverage the capabilities of these new aircraft to foster future expansion from Lima, Sao Paulo, and Santiago.
