Korean Air has announced that it is expanding its services across Asia, focusing on China and Japan.
Part of the expansion will focus on resuming routes and up-gauging frequency to several popular destinations, as demand has recently increased.
Korean Air says it’s resuming service on October 22 from Seoul Incheon to Mudanjiang, with five weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Next, from December 1, daily service will resume from Busan to Qingdao, with Korean Air offering daily service after a lengthy hiatus due to this and the previously announced route resumption caused by the global pandemic.
China is a critical market for Korean Air; the airline says that by the end of December 2024, its China capacity will reach 95% of pre-pandemic capacity.
Korean Air will also increase frequencies from four weekly to daily when flying between Seoul Incheon and Zhengzhou. Seoul Incheon to Xiamen will also be bumped to a daily service starting on October 4, up from the current rate of four times per week.
Away from China, flying to Japan will be the real standout market to recover. The airline expects to see 106% of the pre-pandemic recovery, thus representing a full rebound and now growth.
On October 27, Korean Air will relaunch flying between Seoul Incheon and Nagasaki for the busy winter season. This ends a route break of more than 11 years, with the flight operating four times a week.
Meanwhile, Seoul Incheon, through to Osaka, is amid a temporary increase in overall service that will conclude on October 26. During this period, Korean Air says flying will occur four times a day, representing one additional daily flight.
The carrier is committed to offering its customers the best possible schedule. These frequency changes in markets across China and Japan are important to cater to demand.
Korean Air notes it’ll continue shifting services, increasing flights and making other necessary adjustments in the future in response to trends.
