Airbus will officially send a Beluga to London Heathrow to help aid a damaged Airbus A350-1000 with British Airways.

This A350-1000, which is in question with the national carrier, has been stranded since it was hit by a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 787-9 on April 6, 2024.

In an age where so much importance is placed on having available capacity and many supply chain issues, having an aircraft such as the A350-1000 parked for such a long time is far from optimal.

The British Airways aircraft sustained considerable damage to the right-hand horizontal stabiliser per an incident report, which made headlines worldwide.

Since this incident, British Airways has been unable to return the aircraft to service, which ultimately impacts its ability to offer the network as intended.

Considering this incident happened some time ago, Airbus is now looking to help aid the stranded British Airways aircraft by sending a Beluga to Heathrow for a rare visit.

Paddle Your Own Kanoo, backed by reputable M Zulqarnain, has reported that the Beluga is scheduled to arrive at Heathrow from Toulouse on September 9, 2024.

This timeframe, however, is subject to change. Still, Mr Zulquarin B is an enthusiast who publishes persistent information about aircraft movements and strongly advocates for greater accessibility for spotters in and around the U.K.

The Beluga fleet, which saw the BelugaXL recently replace the original ST, is critical for transporting goods between Airbus facilities and helps aid commercial aircraft production.

However, thanks to the deployment of the next-generation BelugaXL, the older but still required BelugaSTs have formed essentially an integral new airline division within the Airbus business that focuses on more niche transport missions, using the capacity to its advantage and to boost revenue.

This flight will see the Beluga carry essential parts to help mend the damaged Airbus A350 and allow it to return to service safely.
