Etihad Airways has published its traffic figures for July 2024, revealing a significant increase in passengers carried.
Across the month, Etihad Airways transported some 1.7 million passengers, representing an increase of around 500,000 yearly due to growth.
The fleet experienced significant increases in the space of 12 months. In July 2023, the number of operational aircraft stood at 78, which has grown to 93.
Thanks to the addition of many new aircraft, the company has expanded its route network by destinations from 66 to 76.
Furthermore, while great focus has been placed on reaching new markets, this hasn’t been the only angle of focus, with Etihad Airways also increasing flying to existing markets that required additional capacity.
In the first seven months, the airline also saw passenger load factors sit at 89%, up one percentage point from 88% recorded in July 2023.
Despite an increase in the overall fleet and passenger network, strong load factors are encouraging and point to Etihad Airways growing in the right sectors and being measured with expansion.
At the end of July and thus the first seven months of 2024, Etihad said it transported 10.4 million passengers, an increase of almost three million in just 12 months, with load factors remaining at 86%.
Looking ahead, Etihad Airways is poised for future growth as it continues accelerating toward its Journey 2030 ambitions, which will see the fleet almost double its passenger network.
The company’s long-term ambition is to become a greater source of economic value to the UAE, and the increase in its fleet and route network will make this possible.
These targets are very similar to what other Middle Eastern companies are targeting with the hope of being a key pillar to boosting economic growth in the long term.
This highly competitive space is only set to get more competitive. Etihad Airways will need to continue innovating to maintain high market share levels long into the future.
