SAUDIA doesn’t expect delivery delays to be a factor worth considering as it prepares to welcome over one hundred new Airbus aircraft.
As Reuters reported and confirmed by an executive within the Saudia Group, deliveries from the European planemaker are set to remain on schedule.
SAUDIA has committed to over 100 single-aisle planes from Airbus to help propel it forward, the group intends on deploying these planes across companies that call the group home such as SAUDIA and flyadeal once delivered.
This order and prospective future ones from within Saudi Arabia are part of plans to increase tourism. Aviation will be at the heart of that, with economic benefits to follow.
From orders such as this with Airbus to the upcoming launch of Riyadh Air, the ambition is clear. However, whether it’ll be achieved to the extent expected remains another question with limited answers at this stage.
More airlines are looking to commit to aircraft sooner rather than later to ensure they can meet demand in the years ahead. However, there are also valid concerns surrounding the nature of available delivery slots because of all the major orders.
Many airlines feel that if they cannot get their aircraft orders in now, they will miss out and be forced to look elsewhere to fulfil capacity, such as the leasing market, which cannot guarantee providing what each respective carrier needs.
In the case of SAUDIA, however, it believes it has secured delivery dates that the ongoing supply chain issues will not impact.
SAUDIA, thus, would be one of the few airline groups across the industry to have faith in any manufacturer’s ability to deliver planes when expected.
Airbus has seen leading customers announce delivery delays, and the same can be felt at Boeing, arguably at a much higher level. These delays can have profound impacts on airlines, affecting their overall finances and operational performance.
