Boeing has published its deliveries for the second quarter of 2024; thus, half-year results in a challenging year for the plane maker.

During the second quarter, Boeing delivered 92 aircraft to customers worldwide, primarily 737 deliveries, 70 of which were for this family.

The manufacturer delivered six 767 family aircraft to companies, and seven 777 family jets were also shipped. Boeing’s leading widebody, the 787 Dreamliner, saw nine deliveries across the second quarter.

The half-year delivery total is 175, with the 737 and 787 accounting for 137 and 22, respectively. The 175 units are considerably less than what Airbus is reporting, which delivered 323 planes in the same period.

Ultimately, these figures represent a strong drop year over year as Boeing battles considerable oversight following a door blowout incident in the first week of 2024 and subsequent quality problems.

Data indicates that June’s drop was almost 30% lower than one year prior as it battled with challenges related to the stable production of aircraft.

Since the beginning of the year, the FAA has barred Boeing from increasing production of aircraft programs such as the 737. This move is to prevent continued quality issues from slipping through and instead work to find a way to stop them permanently.

However, during this period, Boeing cannot deliver aircraft at the rate it would ideally be doing so. As a result, the backlog of deliveries continues to grow, and airlines see their own delays mount with negative impacts.

While Boeing is poised to continue being outperformed by its competitor, Airbus, it’s argued that the American manufacturer has many more issues on its hands than just its battle with Airbus.
