Airbus has published its June orders and deliveries report, and thus, half-year results reflect improvements but still work.

In June, the planemaker’s commercial aircraft division delivered 67 aircraft to 40 customers, representing a solid month across all aircraft types.

As part of the deliveries 2 A220-100s were shipped off, alongside 2 A220-300s, 19 A320neos, 34 A321neos, 3 A330-900s and 4 A350-900s.

The month continued the theme of the A321neo’s excellence and as a favoured choice in the A320neo family thanks to its enhanced capabilities.

The gap is expected to widen as certification and therefore delivery looms for the next-gen and enhanced A321XLR which will enter service in the third quarter of 2024.

June also saw a gross aircraft orders tally of 73, which was solid as the 2024 Farnborough Airshow approached in the coming weeks.

The Farnborough Airshow sees the industry’s eyes land on the exact location, and thus, high-profile aircraft orders are either unveiled or progress to the final stages before being announced.

Airbus hopes this airshow will be another success for them, not just in the form of aircraft orders but also in continuing to stabilise shaky elements of its business.

June saw orders for 38 A321neos, 4 A330-200s for its Defence and Space division and 31 of its popular A350-900, those being from Indigo mostly who firmed up the significant commitment.

IndiGo’s purchase of an A350 is expected to move them one step further in capturing demand across India with the long-range services that are now available.

Thus far in 2024, Airbus has delivered 323 aircraft to 65 customers. This figure represents a minor 2% increase year over year.

In response to these numbers and continued difficulties across the business, Airbus most recently cut its delivery forecast for the year. Airbus previously aimed to deliver 800 aircraft as a minimum but now is targeting 770, a reduction of 30 units to reflect ongoing pressures.
