WestJet continues accelerating growth plans by announcing plans to boost its fleet by adding three Boeing 737 MAX jets.

The three additional Boeing 737 MAXs will be delivered from BOC Aviation and should be integrated in 2024 once relevant leasing contracts can be completed.

Once delivered, the 737 MAX jets will aid capacity growth across the network and benefit customers significantly. WestJet has strong ambitions to grow its route portfolio and cater to increased demand levels.

Furthermore, the Boeing 737 MAX jets will offer the latest cabin experience and high levels of efficiency, which will have positive ramifications across the business.

WestJet knows its growth targets are ambitious. However, it’s fully committed to achieving them, and increasing its fleet will help meet capacity requirements in the 2024/25 winter and 2025 summer schedules.

The growth plan was unveiled two years ago and included the airline’s view of maintaining its position as Canada’s national leisure leader. Furthermore, the airline wanted to enhance coast-to-coast domestic connectivity and transborder services.

While this strategy was ambitious, WestJet says two years of implementing the plans has seen significant benefits. While seemingly minimal, the addition of three 737 MAX aircraft at WestJet will allow the carrier to launch new routes and boost capacity to ket markets in 2024.

BOC Aviation is thrilled to continue working with WestJet to enable cost-effective fleet expansion. The pair have been working together for a considerable period and want that to continue. Deals such as these will make all this possible.
