Swoop is one of the newest ultra-low-cost carriers to launch in Canada. The airline announced that it carried 10,000 passengers on a single day to bring in the new year.
An amount that breaks all previous records set by the airline.
Swoop launched in 2018 and is a subsidiary of WestJet. The carrier is continuing to rebuild following the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This record-breaking announcement leaves them poised for an important year ahead.
Swoop identifies Toronto, Edmonton and Halifax as their essential and most popular destinations in recent days.
We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment and grateful to our team of Swoopsters and all our travellers for helping us reach this milestone, this past year posed unprecedented challenges for the entire aviation industry, but our airline expanded to reach new heights, and so we’re thrilled to kick off 2023 with a signal of that growth
Bob Cummings, President of Swoop
The company operates a Boeing 737-800 aircraft fleet and serves over 30 destinations across North America. Swoop is well poised for 2023 and wants to continue to be a choice for Canadians with low-cost fares.
Expansion to new cities and adding services to current destinations will be hot on the airline’s list. It comes as they attempt to continue to be an attractive option for Canadians.
