Qantas has continued its business expansion by furthering a codesharing agreement with India’s low-cost, Indigo.
This partnership began in August 2022 and has seen resounding success. This hence warrants a further expansion onto a codeshare.
Several new cities have been added to the codeshare agreement between the two airlines:
Guwahati
Visakhapatnam
Jaipur
Indore
Chandigarh
Nagpur
Thiruvananthapuram
Indigo is currently in the process of rolling out a major network expansion. Their goal is to connect regions in India better and make travel more accessible to the masses.
The Indian aviation sector has become directly contested recently, with many new carriers joining the scene. This pushes existing carriers to adapt and find new solutions to success in a market.
The new codeshare flights will allow our customers to enjoy more connections across India from our Delhi and Bengaluru gateways and have their luggage checked straight through to their final destination. Comments from Markus Svensson.
Per Cirium data, Qantas operates for January 2023 17 flights into Bengaluru, amounting to 4,437 seats. Meanwhile, only 18 flights into Delhi. A decrease from 78 in January 2022.
