Lufthansa is set to operate a one-off charter flight with its flagship Airbus A380 from Munich to Singapore Changi in May.

Flagged by aeroroutes.com, the reputable route-updating publication says that, per a latest schedule filing, the German flag carrier will offer a one-time service departing Munich on 12 May, 2026.

The A380-800, currently configured with 509 seats, has no reservations available, with LH2572 slated to depart Munich at 2155 and arrive in Singapore at 1540 the next day. The return leg, LH2573, departs on 13 May 2026 at 2240 with a 0520 next day arrival back into Munich.

Charter service under LH2572/2573 isn’t just destined for Singapore. The German flag carrier also offered a scheduled charter flight between Munich and Tokyo Narita in mid-April.

Latest flight data for these flight numbers further show activity on 28 April, 2026, with an Airbus A380 operating between Munich and Hong Kong on a once-more on-off scheduled service.

A Busy Month For The Lufthansa A380

Special charter flights that are one-offs ultimately represent just one pillar of the busy last month for the Airbus A380 at Lufthansa. This once-considered down-and-out aircraft has experienced a resurgence following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Just last week, the airline celebrated the return of its first completed A380-800 with a retrofit. D-AIMC sports 68 new business-class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration and replaces the older, dated 2-2-2 layout with all-new seats.

The seats are 58cm wide and convert into a full 2m lie-flat bed. Additionally, each seat is now in business class, offering customers direct aisle access, flexible dividers for either enhanced privacy or communication between couples, Bluetooth features, and more.

The expectation is that work on eight Airbus A380s will be completed in Dresden by mid-2027. Upon the return of the first aircraft, the second model also flew to Dresen, wearing the centenary XXL crane livery for its own work.

The investment is important for giving the A380 a quality-of-life upgrade and for responding to premium travellers’ requirements, amid Lufthansa’s need to drive revenue growth after a troublesome last decade that exposed several poor decisions, leading to declining profits and brand approval ratings.
