While not announcing substantial commitments for new aircraft, Embraer announced an exciting development at the 2024 Farnborough Airshow.

The Brazilian manufacturer unveiled the first automatic takeoff system, which will be implemented on the E195-E2, the project known as the E2TS.

This groundbreaking system will examine ways to enhance fuel use during takeoff, which has been described as one of the more expensive parts of flight.

Embraer believes that the automated takeoff system will benefit airlines that operate the popular E2 as it looks to optimise and thus streamline the process.

This process will enhance the takeoff system and produce a more precise and efficient moment of flight with an improved flight trajectory.

The planemaker says this will reduce the required field length and pilot workload. As a result, airlines will benefit from greater payload and range, while challenging airports will see easier access with the E2.

Enhancing the range from challenging airports and making departures easier could be the improvement some airlines have required to make the jump and order it.

Embraer notes that the E2 already focuses on great performance at airports such as London City, Florence, etc. However, thanks to these adjustments, 350 nautical miles will be added to the range from London City, opening up new possibilities.

Other improvements were announced as part of the plans, such as cabin optimisation by adding one row to most configurations, thus boosting seating from 136 to 140. Over 15 years, minor additions like these can have substantial opportunities with USD 4.5 million in revenue.

Furthermore, satellite connectivity will soon be made available for the first time on the E175, which will benefit business travellers greatly. The retrofit will be made available for customers by 2026.

Embraer adds that data transfer solutions will be made available in the future, and the weather radars will be updated to match the capabilities of the existing E2.

These transformative steps are to increase harmony across the Embraer portfolio and provide greater detection points for a smooth flying experience.
