Condor’s name is back in the headlines with reported interest in the Airbus A330neo for a top-up purchase coming as soon as the Farnborough Airshow next week.

As Airbus quietly prepares for the leading trade event in the United Kingdom, the A330neo is of heightened interest to companies.

Reports suggest the German leisure carrier is lining up around half a dozen additional jets, which represents quite the commitment for the airline’s growth plans in the coming decades.

However, some advisors and sources have downplayed this reporting, with much speculation ongoing as the show is days away from commencement and possible deals begin to leak.

What the rumours say about Condor and the A330neo…

Reuters has reported that Airbus is in talks to sell more Airbus A330neos to Condor; however, alongside the German carrier is Saudi Arabia’s flynas, in a package deal that would increase the widebody orderbook.

For Condor, the figure and details remain unknown, as with most contracts before they’re finalised; however, some sources suggest that around half a dozen units could be added to the backlog, elevating capacity in the coming decades.

Condor itself hasn’t confirmed the new order, nor has Airbus, and they won’t. It’s typically the airline’s job to publish its interest in new commercial aircraft, if it wishes, when putting forward RFPs or discussing its long-term investment plan.

In the case of the German carrier, that hasn’t occurred. In July 2025, the airline increased its A330neo commitment, and with deliveries continuing, a new deal would help expand capacity across markets and increase widebody flying.

Why more A330neos for Condor?

Condor has heavily embraced the A330-900, part of the NEO family. The jet has become the backbone of its widebody fleet and has helped facilitate the retirement of its ageing Boeing jets, such as the 767-300ER.

With deliveries commencing in the last four years, the A330neo has increased quickly and now stands at almost 20 units, with three more deliveries expected by the end of 2027. The planned total will be 25 aircraft under current firm contracts by 2031.

However, the jets that cover long-haul flying. to the Caribbean and North American sun routes, even Africa and Thailand are scratching the surface of what’s possible moving forward. Thanks to the product delivering better fuel burn and lower maintenance needs, it has also received strong customer feedback.

With the A330neo nearly exceeding expectations since its delivery, additional aircraft would provide capacity for new leisure destinations, enable frequency increases on some of its strongest cities during peak seasons, and, overall, provide more coverage to match forecasted demand increases.

Even if the latest Farnborough Airshow speculated deal is just in the mid-single digits, it still offers a further glimpse into the role the jet plays in the fleet now and, certainly, deeper into the future. However, a contract isn’t guaranteed, as Bloomberg sources flagged, though they also downplayed it.
