Bonza Opens New Base In Australia

Australia’s low-cost and independent airline Bonza has announced plans to open a third base on the Gold Coast.

This is part of the next growth phase for the airline that’ll see 70 new flights per week and, as such, almost 700,000 additional passenger seats a year in and out of the airport located on the coast of Queensland.

Subject to regulatory approval, these are the routes Bonza will look to open up from the Gold Coast with essential connections, such as its secondary base at Melbourne Tullamarine.

Flights are expected to be put on sale shortly and will start at $49 one way per person.

Today’s announcement is about creating more depth in our network by connecting existing Bonza destinations with the Gold Coast and also the gateway from there to Northern NSW. It is a huge boost for the economy and allows people in our existing destinations the opportunity to book an affordable flight to Gold Coast Airport and take a much-deserved holiday or long-awaited visit to friends and family.

Tim Jordan, CEO of Bonza

Bonza has 4 737 MAX aircraft in service acquired through an operating lease. However, the company will only want to grow with more aircraft in the future.

100 direct jobs will be made possible with a start immediately as Bonza continues to refine its network and find routes that stick the landing, all part of its growth plans as an Australian airline that’s not only here for Australia but plans to stay for the long-term.

  1. Would Bonza consider flying Gold Coast to Armidale? This is a large inland transient student population with the university and town, that has never really been properly serviced. Now there is no bus link either!

  2. How about stop cancelling flights and changing times before taking on other routes. I’ve lost days out my leave because of this.

  3. Please bring back Mackay to Cairns once a week on Friday and charge $180 which beats paying $335 with Qantas.

  4. You don’t have web page to look up flight you direct me to play store to down load a app that won’t load no wonder your f\,!.! Failing as a airline

  5. Is it possible that Bonza flight can schedule 4 times a month from one place to another. We are living in Toowoomba. My son is studying in Cairns. We could plan him to travel with Bonza if there is any flights
If it is once a week, people can plan accordingly. Then there Will be no empty seats.
Please do not have too many flights from regional area, then seats will be left empty.

  6. Great news Gold Coast to Withsundays and return to my Farm it take me 13 hrs by road on the dangeous Bruce Hwy each way

  7. Why not replace the Jetstar flight to Nadi from the Goldcoast which Jetstar ceased operations with back in 2019. We know the real reason. Qantas has a 55% stake in Air Fiji, Fijian Govt 40%, other 5% by other Pacific Island nations. Qantas wants up to use the Air Fiji flights out of Brisbane, precovid, those flights were $150 more than Jetstar out of the Goldcoast

  8. Great Job Bonza and staff have flown 6 times with Great service
Will fly with BONZA whenever I can

  9. These additional flights are much needed. I recently flew from Melbourne to Bundaberg then Sunshine Coast to Albury.
On both occasions the planes were full to the brim.
