American Airlines is continuing to move forward with efforts to improve customer satisfaction by rolling out free high-speed Wi-Fi.
Sponsored by AT&T, the airline will deliver something it describes as at the top of customer requests, and do so on more aircraft than any other airline worldwide.
From this month onward, AAdvantage members will be able to enjoy free high-speed satellite-based Wi-Fi across more than 2 million flights every year, part of ongoing centennial celebrations for the U.S. carrier as it lays the groundwork for the next century as well.
As described by the airline’s Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden, offering customers free high-speed Wi-Fi nowadays is not just a perk but an essential requirement for travellers in this day and age.

Once the rollout is complete, AAdvantage members will be able to stay connected while in the air, whether for entertainment, business, or leisure. This is a significant plus for the airline’s efforts to raise customer satisfaction.
With American Airlines also aware that it needs to close the gap with competitors Delta and United Airlines, these announcements and launches are crucial for the airline to stand a chance of taking positive steps forward.
The Rollout Plan At American Airlines
Given the significant undertaking of ensuring the airline has one of the most widespread connectivity across its global fleet, the rollout will occur in phases, with initial work commencing this month.

The rollout will see 100% of narrowbody and dual-class regional fleets have connectivity added by early Spring; therefore, it will be available on almost all American Airlines flights at this stage.
Long-standing business partner AT&T has joined forces with American Airlines to bring this opportunity to life, helping more people stay connected in more places.
By sponsoring free inflight Wi-Fi for American Airlines AAdvantage® members, we’re making it easier for people to stay productive, entertained and in touch from takeoff to landing. We’re proud to support this experience for AAdvantage® members, helping redefine what it means to travel connected, all courtesy of America’s best, fastest and most reliable network.
Jenifer Robertson, AT&T’s EVP and GM for Mass Markets
American Airlines also took the opportunity to highlight that it’s not done with innovation, as it looks towards tomorrow with its business and, more importantly, cabin product.
The airline says it has more satellite-equipped Wi-Fi aircraft than any other airline worldwide, and more than 900 mainline jets equipped with high-speed satellite Wi-Fi.

American Airlines was also the first U.S. airline to offer streaming across 100% of its mainline fleet, and the emergence of high-speed Wi-Fi remains crucial in laying the foundation for the future.
