Air India has added Ho Chi Minh City to its network from Delhi using the Airbus A320neo as it expands service to Southeast Asia.

Air India is boosting its network in Vietnam with the upcoming launch of a new service to Ho Chi Minh City from Delhi.

The service is slated to operate five times weekly, with an Airbus A320neo deployed on the route. These Airbus A320neos are configured with business and economy class products, providing up to 162 seats.

The airline has confirmed that the service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with flights departing Delhi at 1315.

The flight’s arrival in Vietnam is scheduled for 1955, and it will return to Delhi one hour later, in 2055. The returning flight will land in Delhi the following morning at 0030.

The latest addition will mark a critical moment for the carrier, which, for the first time, offers service between the two cities. Additionally, service commencement is essential in strengthening Air India’s offering towards Southeast Asia, with demand increasing between India and Vietnam.

However, the airline will face competition upon service launch from June 1, 2024, with VietJet and Vietnam Airlines already operating on the route.

The national carrier of Air India, however, will hope that as it continues to rebuild with new cabins, new aircraft, a refreshed image, and a focus on customer satisfaction levels, it’ll become a leader in the sector and be able to take some market share away.

While Air India highlights the ease at which customers from the U.S. or Canada can connect onward from an Air India service bound for India to Vietnam, this would be the long way around the world. In some instances, it would likely be more accessible to travel across the Pacific to Vietnam on another airline.
